Dentist and Gramercy

Ok here’s my Thailand post! Hahahhaa. Quite a few days back but… here we go.

Basically I went to Bangkok Hospital and did some teeth filling by my favourite dentist Surasak! :D And I also went there for a little something extra, which was to pluck out my wisdom teeth. Both at the bottom, and the wonderful Singapore dentist told me I had to pluck the one at the top too (which is at a really really odd position), though the Thailand dentist told me that the top wisdom teeth was integrated into the bone already and probably won’t grow out. Like OMG please! Even if you wanna earn money don’t suggest such things! I don’t wanna drill my bone!

Anyway the lovely dentist who did my wisdom teeth for me was another dentist (specialisation you know), called Jacinda. She’s also really superbly nice and caring and I didn’t have a single bruise or swelling from the surgery. And she really made it as comfortable and painless as possible. You know how you get so grateful to some people sometimes, that overwhelming feeling? Well I really felt that and I seldom feel it at all. Because anyway I seldom meet such all-round nice people who are professional at the same time. I really strongly recommend people to go to Bangkok Hospital… because I truly think the standards there are superb. I’m obviously not saying for every single little filling ’cause that’s only if you can afford it. However, if it’s like wisdom teeth surgery/extraction or root canal treatment with crowning.. I suggest going there.. because like everyone knows, the rates there are very much cheaper than in singapore. In fact, the cost there plus air ticket can be less than just the treatment in Singapore! :S so if you are really afraid some of your nerves might be affected or you want an extremely good job done. BKK. C:

By the way I have decided not to take a picture of my wisdom teeth.. I think they’re rotting internally because I can’t pull the blood vessels out from inside. So like.. YUCK. It’s looks gross and I might have to throw them but I don’t want to! I tried disinfecting them a little and stuff… sigh. See how it goes. I think it’s kind of because the roots are so long. They grew so much more in the one year since they started the process. Sickening.

That aside, my Thailand trip was rather uneventful. I got forced by my dad to buy some clothes so I wouldn’t be stuck with only grey stuff in uni. Hahahhha. And I didn’t get to eat very much of those good food my dad ordered till about the last day. I was drinking yoghurt from a straw! :C

Ok er… on to the next part of my post.

Fuay’s gonna have a masked party at her house soon, with the lot of us, her cousin, some of her friends and two of our old friends that I’ve missed a lot (Choon and Hwee). So, anyway, Choon will be playing the piano (yes yes… it’s musically inclined and very tame kind of party… more like a eating and games session),  and she’s of dip standard so I can’t freaking wait to here. Meanwhile we had a problem which was that Fuay’s piano had broken quite badly due to the three huge statues on the poor piano! I don’t see how any piano could survive that… so I went with her to Gramercy today to look for a piano. She’ll be getting the 124 Geneva Mahogany from Wilhelm Tell. Lol! And I saw Gera’s dad Mr Pang there too. Hahahha.

I got myself a Chopin Ballades book that Choon told me to get, seeing as how I wanted to play the first Ballade in G minor.

chopinballades

Ah! I love ths music! Chopin is a fantastic composer. So currently, I’m practising the first Ballade, Etudes Opus 10 No.3 and No.4.  C:

And one more important thing…

Happy Birthday Gera! Have a lovely 20th birthday!

OCARINA!!!

My sister bought one for me!!!! And silly girl didn’t buy one for herself. Now I’m gonna look for an ocarina for her but not too expensive.

It’s really cute.

nordiuspp

It’s a crocodile ocarina!!!!!! HAHAHHA! Looks really cute, doesn’t it? Plays quite beautifully too. I decided to name it Nordius (a name I was reserving for good use actually), and my dear sister said it sounds like nauseous… :C I was thinking more of Nordic… a variant of it. But anyway, I really love it.

What’s an ocarina? It’s basically in the family of wind instruments… almost like a flute.

It doesn’t have to have four holes like mine, it can have many many more. I think mine falls under the Pendant category. You can read more about ocarinas here.

Meanwhile, listen to this. It’s a video of someone playing the ocarina on Youtube. It’s just simply wonderful! Enjoy!

Okok

I know I’ve been neglecting this blog. Actually the movies post is about halfway done, however I can’t find the satisfactory pictures for the scenes I wanna talk about. And that kind of sucks so unless I find the pictures I need, I think I shall wait till I get the DVDs for Wolverine and Star Trek. That would be better anyway because I can’t exactly remember everything and I’m pretty sure I missed out some important stuff on the post. So probably wait till then. Hopefully it will convince some of you to buy the DVDs and watch the movies too. C:

I shall be putting this blog on semi-hiatus. My life really is just too boring to talk about right now. In addition I feel like I lost some of that inspiration to write, or to be more truthful, I’m channeling more energy into writing my own original fiction. This book has a rather darker tone than most of the other stuff I’ve written. Don’t ask me why. It must be because of my dreary life. For people who want to read the first few chapters, go ahead and email me for it.

I think to put it simply, these days I’ve been doing more artsy stuff. Satisfying my urge for it. Hahahaha. Which includes carving wood as well, and it quite freaked my mother out because she thinks I will cut myself and die. Possible. C:

I’m also doing some designing. More of clothes on the whole. They’re all for fun really, since I won’t be able to start my own fashion line any time in the near future. Eeps.

And likewise I’m playing more piano again. (No don’t ask about the violin! I can hardly play it anymore!) The piece is Chopin Etude Opus 10 No.4. I decided to go with this one rather than the more famous No.3 because I think it’s kind of more challenging for me? I’m a lot better at emotional slow pieces than fast ones. Hmm.

The tempo is just CRAZY I tell you. I’m hardly past half of the first page, not to mention that I haven’t played any tough compositions for a really long time. Oh well I shall fun with this.

I’ve also been quite suddenly, interested in the Shakuhachi. It’s a kind of  flute with a really beautiful minor scale. Here’s a video I found on Youtube.

Lovely, isn’t it? I’m tempted to go learn it. :D

Other than that, I probably might write a new post on this blog in July (unless I have something more interesting to talk about before that)??? Second week. Reason being I’m going to Thailand to operate on my three horrible wisdom teeth that have some conspiracy in which all  of them are impacted and can’t grow out. :C GAH. I shall have lots of complain about then. So for now…

Goodbye.

Double movies on

the next post. Hahahhaa.

Sorry but I’ve got my SATs soon so I’ll probably do it when I’m bored right out of my socks.

So what’s the next post gonna be about? As the title suggests, I’m gonna write about two movies that I’ve watched recently, and perhaps including some daily life shizz. The movies are… *drumroll*… X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Star Trek!!!

I know I know… a bit late in coming but I promise it’ll be a good post. And yes I’ve not been posting much these days because of the whole twitter disease. I’ve fallen prey to that too, and so I’ve been neglecting dear pualeiplains.

So… anticipate the next post! I’ll put as many pictures as I can, but bewarned! It’ll be chock full of spoilers!

Earth!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/may/03/russia-arctic-nuclear-power-stations

Read the above article people! It is titled

Russia to build floating Arctic nuclear stations

Environmentalists fear pollution risk as firms try to exploit ocean’s untapped oil and gas reserves.

 Polar-Bear-on-Iceberg-001

Picture credit to www.guardian.co.uk in above mentioned article. Polar bear!

Interested now? People should really care more for the environment because it really affects us more than you can ever imagine. We’re tied to the Earth and the Earth is tied to us. It’s time to stop making mistakes. I don’t really see why people have such extreme reactions when we talk about environmentalism. No one is telling you to stop watching your television or something, but nuclear power stations in the Arctic is really going overboard.

Here are a few excerpts.

[A prototype floating nuclear power station being constructed at the SevMash shipyard in Severodvinsk is due to be completed next year. Agreement to build a further four was reached between the Russian state nuclear corporation, Rosatom, and the northern Siberian republic of Yakutiya in February.]

[...have developed submarine nuclear-powered drilling rigs that could allow eight wells to be drilled at a time.]

The damage done would be quite phenomenal. I get that people have a lack of oil and fuel now and Russia and so many other corporations and nations hope to tap on these reserves, but I feel we should be focusing more on hybrid and green technology. How long more will these reserves last anyway. There’s just too much damage done already.

["It is highly risky. The risk of a nuclear accident on a floating power plant is increased. The plants' potential impact on the fragile Arctic environment through emissions of radioactivity and heat remains a major concern. If there is an accident, it would be impossible to handle," said Igor Kudrik, a spokesman.]

It’s basically a billion times worse than an oil spill really. And I’m pretty sure it’s gonna literally wipe out most of the deep sea population.

[Last week, ministers from many Arctic countries heard scientists and former US vice-president and Nobel prize winner Al Gore say that the Arctic could be free of ice in the summer within five years, with drastic consequences for the world's climate and human health.]

It may not be exactly five years but it’s gonna be inevitable the way humans’ are continuing on with their exploitation activites.

Please read the article here for a lot more crucial details.

There are also some information stated in this website of National Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Do read it. It gives a very good summary with the necessary details for people to understand about global warming and ice caps melting.

This particular article argues about polar bears being really endangered though.

Contrast it with the WorldWildlife organisation’s website on polar bear conservation here.

I think the whole issue on polar bear endangerment should be known to most people. I think debating whether they really are being endangered or not (most things are really based on only a bit of evidence and claims anyway) is really just skirting the problem. The main issue still lies in that the climate is changing to rapidly and so is the Earth. If the polar bears are not endangered now, they will be soon when there’s no longer any ice around for them to rest on.

Why do I bother to write about this? Seems like we can’t do much about this issue, right? Not really. You can always petition. Also it’s important that people are aware of such atrocities. Cut down on some electricity. Use more green technology. There are limitless ways to help out… it’s only if you want to or not.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

There are a lot of cool movies coming out soon (or not so soon, depending on how quickly time passes for you). One of them, as everyone knows, is X-Men Origins Wolverine (not wolberine… that one’s broadcasted already), that is to be released in Singapore on April 29th. Another would be New Moon of the Twilight Saga directed by Chris Weitz. I’m glad Taylor Lautner is coming back as Jacob Black and I’m definitely supporting Michael Sheen as Aro, but otherwise I haven’t been very up-to-date about New Moon-ities.

The movie I shall be talking about is Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince (as if my title wasn’t absolutely obvious from the start).

Right… I won’t be saying too much though. First off, watch the splendid trailers at their official website.

http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/harrypotterandthehalf-bloodprince/

As you can see, the graphics are stunning. There’s been quite a bit of improvement I daresay.

Here are some of the promotional posters from the official website of the movie…

hp6_poster_5-large

hp6_poster_4-large

(Oh it’s Alan Rickman! *Squeals!*)

The movie is really taking on a darker theme, just as the books have. Of course that is to be expected but I must say I really like the turn it’s taking. There’s a lot more Draco Malfoy (acted by Tom Felton) in this installment too.

harryandhermy

Such solemn expressions… though the last movie (with 2 installments) will be markedly worse.

There will of course still be comedic moments like…

ronkeeper

The presence of Ron Weasley. Great expression Rupert Grint! Oliver Wood would be proud!

I really like the Ron Weasley character though. I never fail to laugh at what he does. I don’t even meet such quirky people around me anymore… oh with the exception of my really Riddikulus sister.

I’m particularyly interested in knowing, <and for people who bury their heads in sand and don’t read Harry Potter (with the exception of those who truly do not have access to books – please support charity organisations) there will be a spoiler ahead…> how the scene of Snape killing Dumbledore is portrayed. It’s a very emotional part and basically the climax of this particular part of the series. So I am eagerly waiting…

There are a lot more tantalising details and pictures up and about, but obviously I have not posted all of them up or I will not have space on my blog for other pictures soon. C: Well you can go to the same places the pictures on my blog came from - official website here (again), and also the IMDB page to browse through the galleries.

I hope to catch this movie on the premier day, July 16 for Singapore, which is one day later than the official release day of July 15 in Britain. (Pssst Sook! Don’t forget to order the tix!) I wish there were freebies too of course. No such hope? Hahhahaha!

Well that’s it for now. I’m really hoping that this movie will be a total blast partly because Half-blood Prince is my favourite book of the series followed by Prisoner of Azkaban…

I’ll probably do a movie review after I’ve watched it. Ciaos!

Trips to hell and back.

Of course not. I wouldn’t find my way back – not with my awful direction sense. How lame…

Right here are the trips I did make…

I went to Tampines 1 with Cha and Tree yesterday… and gawd when we went to the super-hyped Uniqlo it was a total disappointment. Don’t call it casual clothing… call it bland instead. And the prices definitely weren’t casual. I was far more interested in the Tenchi shop (which the guy at the counter was nice enough to play the Blu-ray Advent Children Complete disc for me). It looks like this accomplete

But it is far more gorgeous in real life. And the most amazing thing is that there’s a playable demo for FFXIII! Like isn’t that super duper cool or something. After watching even just a few minutes of the disc, and taking a look and the whole thing, I think it’s really worth getting. Provided you have the money… ack.

Took a look at the Mickey Disney store too.

chipndale

I saw some really cute Chips and Dales hanging all over. Lol. And then there was a really cute Heffalump too…

heffalump

Yes I mean the one staring right at you. Hahahha.

Later Tree bugged us to go to Bakerzin for their promotion. This time’s was a $2.50 cupcake (exclusive of GST and service charges) for whatever size you wanted (which includes A,B,C). Ostentatious, isn’t it? Hahhaha!

bakerzin

cupcake

Right this was the one I bought… Pistachios cream cupcake.

cupcake1

And Tree bought the chocolate one. Cha got herself a Rose-flavoured cupcake, but the picture is really rather blur (I took the pic with my lousy camera phone since I forgot to charge the camera batt) so I’m not posting it up…

hotchoc

And my yummy hot chocolate! Nice heart on it! Hahahha. I love hot chocolate so much. The Whittard’s one is good… here’s a picture.

whittardhotchoc1

Yumyumyumyum! I do like all sorts of chocolates in fact! Whether it’s real chocs or just flavoured. Oh wait there’s one exception… don’t ever shove liquor chocs in my face unless they are Baileys.

Mm… and this is the Tohato snack my sis got for me from Daiso…

tohatodino

It tastes great as usual… and I really like the dino (meanwhile trying to ignore Crayon shin-chan because he’s obscene).

Well, then the other trip I made was today, where I met Gera at Parkway and also went to get my Ah Gong’s bday pressie. Anyway, thanks Gera, really! I had lots of fun! She is really really easy to talk to, and I felt comfortable being with her, and I usually don’t feel comfortable with just anyone, so I tend to fall back into my *polite, courteous, masked mode*.

magvcdndumbledore

She got me the Junon May 2009 mag too. Thanks dear! And there you can also see the DVD I got for my ah gong, who adores wu xia shows. C:

And then… right smack in the middle is my EEYORE! I called it Dumbledore. But my sister keeps insisting on calling it Neville Longbottoms. And I said no way, I like Eeyore A LOT, and I like Dumbledore A LOT, so I named my eeyore Dumbledore. And certainly not longbottomS.

Speaking of which… be prepared for my next post on… Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

April 22, 2009

It’s three.

In the morning.

My sister said something very true. “The more famous and richer you get, the more free stuff you get too.” Apt.

Going to Orchard and Tampines 1 later on today. Can I wake up? Oh I’d certainly like to think so. Will post up more about the trip later.
